THE FORMAT
The Level 2 is designed to offer experiential learning. When not watching online video instructions or interacting with Jonathan via Zoom, you will join breakout groups where you will take turns serving as a therapist or role-playing a couple. You will actually practice facilitating the interventions that you only observed in Level 1. Jonathan will visit breakout groups and offer feedback and assistance.
Immerse yourself in the Gottman Method and gain confidence using the techniques in your clinical work. Level 2 Training provides an in-depth exploration of assessment and intervention with advanced practical guidance for clinical observation and identifying co-morbidities, including PTSD, affairs, and addiction.
You will view videos of Drs. John and Julie Gottman's lectures and share in-session clinical videos that demonstrate practical application of assessment and intervention techniques.
You will learn research-based strategies and tools to help couples successfully manage conflict. You will gain skills to empower partners to dialogue about their worst gridlocked issues by uncovering their underlying dreams, history, and values. You will gain tools to help couples process fights and heal their hurts, and techniques for partners to deepen their intimacy and minimize relapse.
This training is for mental health providers, allied professionals and clergy, students and interns, family clinic staff, professors/teachers of couples therapy, researchers in the social sciences, and employee assistance professionals. Prerequisite: Gottman Level 1.
Included in the registration price is a clinical training manual, which contains the core Gottman Method Couples Therapy assessments and interventions. You will be awarded a Certificate of Completion from The Gottman Institute.
At the completion of this training, you will be able to:
