Named after Louisville’s first settlement Corn Island Storytelling was a nationally known autumn fixture attracting thousands of fans for thirty years. For the past five- years it has a new home at Blackacre State Nature Preserve & Historic Homestead in the darkness beneath a circus style tent adjacent to a 200-year-old barn.

The rich tradition of telling stories continues when five-premiere storytellers take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 19th. Tickets are $12.00 in advance ($15.00 at the door) per adult; free for children age 12 and under.

Featured storytellers include headliner Bobby Norfolk is an internationally known story performer and teaching artist. He is a three-time Emmy Award winner, Parents Choice Gold and Silver Award winner from St. Louis, MO. The Storytelling Oracle Award recipient is one of the most popular and dynamic story-educators in America today!

Roberta Brown, a.k.a. Queen of Cold Blooded Tales, is a professional storyteller who has been a part of Corn Island Storytelling for more than 30-years. She is a prolific writer, having 13 scary books to her credit. Her imagination and macabre sense of humor take the listener on an eerie journey through goosebumps into the dark corridors and lockers of her twisted mind. When the lights go out and the moon is dark, Roberta is at her creative best.

Bob Thompson has been a storyteller for 30+ years and written 2 books, ‘Hitchhiker, Stories from the Kentucky Homefront’ (2017) and ‘Stitched Together, Stories from a Kentucky life’ (Fall 2019), both published by the University Press of Kentucky. Col. Bob is the self-appointed “Commissioner of Kentucky Front porches” and for 15-years has been the “Resident Front-Porch Philosopher” on the “Kentucky Homefront” (WFPK) Radio Show, the Chairman of the International Order of EARS, and the producing director for its Corn Island Storytelling Festival.

For thirteen years Barbara Calloway coordinated and guided the Spirits of La Grange Ghost Tours and founded Ghost Stories on the Square in La Grange, KY where she served as the Chair of the Historical Districts Commission.

Robert Calloway is a retired art teacher who sponsored "The Tale Tell Knights of Castle Heights"; in Lebanon,Tennessee, where he coached students in preparation for the National Youth Storytelling Olympics. Robert brought storytellers and authors to his school to work with students to host their own storytelling festival.
