Poetry Out Loud

Explore the revolution of spoken word poetry in this four-week workshop. From composition to performance, you will be guided on how to "write to speak," and will workshop your piece both in written and spoken form, with one session dedicated solely to the performance aspect of poetry. Lessons will include “Writing for Reading” and “Finding Your Voice – Literally” to “Spoken Word and Slam for Dummies” and “Poetry as Performance Art.” A public reading will be held at the end of the four weeks to showcase your work.

Instructor:

She holds an MFA from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, and is a professor at Ivy Tech Community College and the University of Louisville. Several of her "octopus poems" and other works are in print in various anthologies and collections in the US as well as in the UK.
